Nursing entails serving during the most significant moments of an individual's life: baby's first cry to a man's last breath. I believe nursing is serving a whole person: healing, caring and advocating. The act of nursing entails management, technical expertise and practical wisdom. I believe nursing is about growing every day, as a servant leader and as an individual.

Nurses are at the forefront of patient care. We are in a fortuitous position to grow as scholars and researchers. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation NCIN scholarship has enabled me to pursue a career in nursing. The RWJF believes in my ability to use a disadvantaged upbringing to create advantageous care for those I tend to. By supporting me now, the RWJF created a foundation for me to become a nurse researcher. I believe nursing is changing the world for the better. One awesome well trained nurse at a time.
