Essay

I believe this about nursing..."Nurses are not only the last line of defense they are also the first line of defense."

Nursing is a profession that doesn’t just stop with being caring and compassionate. It takes a special individual with interest in wanting to help people and looking at this career as more than just a job. It’s a challenging yet adventurous process that enables individuals to be a part of changing events, new developments and most of all miracles. In my opinion Nursing is a privilege that has been granted to certain individuals that can take on the responsibilities of not only being able to provide care to individuals in hospitals or  medical centers, but to go one step further and take their skills out into the community, nation and world.

Receiving the Robert Wood Johnson scholarship has been a blessing to me and my family. I am very appreciative of this scholarship because it is allowing me to achieve a second degree career that I have always wanted to do. Receiving a scholarship such as this one reminds me that even during the rough times to keep on pushing through because I am being counted on to succeed. Once I am finished this degree program, I will be able to take my knowledge and apply it in my community and hopefully in my state by standing beside my husband in the Army National Guard.
Nurses are not only the last line of defense they are also the first line of defense.
