 Thanks to the NCIN program, the school of nursing was able to expand enrollment in its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. To accommodate the additional students, the university hired six more clinical faculty members and created new curricular approaches to nurse education. The school also hired a new coordinator, who had switched careers to become a nurse, to oversee its ABSN program. He served as an important male role model for the NCIN scholars. Scholars’ progress was tracked throughout the program to evaluate retention, as well as students’ class participation, test scores, and graduation rank.
