To help increase the diversity of the school of nursing and health sciences, Simmons College developed an effective recruitment plan, which included developing an agreement with Bennett College, an ethnically diverse college for women. The recruitment plan also included sending mailings to hospital partners, the New England Regional Black Nurses Association (NERBNA), and the local chapter of the American Association of Hispanic Nurses (AAHN), as well as hosting social events with these organizations. The local NERBNA and AAHN presidents also serve as mentors to NCIN scholars.
