The Ohio State University (OSU) worked with an organization development consultant at the OSU’s Office of Human Resources to generate a list of five leadership development activities, and asked its NCIN scholars to rank them from most to least beneficial. The scholars gave the highest ranking to Strengths Finder, an online self-report assessment that reveals how the user’s top talents can be translated into personal and career success. The scholars then reviewed their top talents during a workshop at which they developed “elevator speeches” that promoted those strengths; identified opportunities to use this knowledge in their personal and professional lives; and identified ways to maximize their talents within the cohort, working collaboratively as a team.
