NCIN supports the commitment of the college’s parent company, Trinity Health, to diversify the nursing workforce. The college created an Individual Leadership Nursing Seminar using the NCIN Leadership Toolkit as a guide, and all NCIN scholars completed the seminar. Understanding that building leadership skills is a process, the Second-Degree Accelerated pro- gram (SDAP) faculty voted to incorporate leadership learning opportunities into all core nursing classes. Program officials met the objectives of NCIN’s mentoring program. They also created a committee to identify candidates for NCIN scholarships. As a result of this work, faculty affiliated with the school’s SDAP sought resources that allowed all SDAP students to participate in activities that were originally intended only for the NCIN scholars.
