Due to the NCIN support, Montana State was able to accept five scholars who were economically disadvantaged and considered to be at risk of not completing their degrees. Not only did all five scholars successfully complete the program, but they ex- celled. All passed their NCLEX examinations the first time they took them, obtained their state nursing licenses, and found meaningful employment within two months of graduation One scholar was enrolled in a DNP program that started just three weeks after she graduated. The scholars, of course, earned their success but the tools provided by NCIN helped support it by strengthening their orientation, leadership, and mentoring experiences. Scholars participated in the local chapters of Sigma Theta Tau International, the international nursing society, and Zeta Upsilon.
