Participating in the NCIN pro- gram facilitated the launch of the Linfield College nursing school’s Peer Resource Network mentor program. Initially developed for NCIN scholars, the program was eventually extended to all nursing majors because of its Positive reception and evaluations. Each NCIN scholar was assigned his or her first semester; by their fourth semester, many were serving as mentors to other students, and exercising and developing their own leadership skills in the process. NCIN grants helped the school attract $450,000 in additional grants from other foundations to support nursing scholarships.
