Accelerated Second Degree Bachelor’s Program:
The Second Degree sequence allows students who have already received a bachelor’s degree in another field to receive a bachelor’s of science degree with a major in nursing. This full-time sequence offers courses at the Tampa campus and is typically completed in four consecutive semesters (after pre-requisites). Unique to the University of South Florida is the use of a regional Clinical Collaborative Model in which the University of South Florida College of Nursing and 9 local and regional hospitals partner to offer USF students clinical at a particular agency for the majority if not all of the clinical experiences. Students “match” to an agency based on preference and availability. This unique model offers students a one-of-a-kind experience. The Clinical Collaborative model has been in existence for over 10 years and meets bimonthly to discuss, plan, and evaluate student learning and partnership objectives.
Admission to the University of South Florida; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA; Completion of all nursing prerequisite coursework; Completed application to the college of Nursing with a writing sample and a current resume; Admission is based on GPA, grades on the first attempt in the science pre-requisites, work experience, volunteerism, and a writing sample.
