The New Careers in Nursing 4th Annual Summit was held in Washington, DC in October 2011.  An array of topics was discussed concerning optimizing students’ success in accelerated programs. One of the more popular sessions voted on by attendees was by Allen Johnston, PhD, an assistant professor in the School of Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he presented on social media by describing today’s learners’ use of social media and the opportunities and challenges that exist for faculty to use these platforms for instruction.
