Since the NCIN program started, students in the Accelerated Program for Non-Nurses have developed and participated in many projects targeting low-income and disenfranchised people. This has deepened students’ understanding of health care and the factors that influence it.
A accelerated B.S. and M.S. program designed especially for the individual holding a bachelor's degree in another field.

Since receiving its first NCIN grant, the school of nursing has more than doubled the number of faculty members from groups underrepresented in nursing and doubled the number of male faculty. It has also hired seven NCIN program graduates as faculty, and several of them mentor new NCIN scholars. School leaders also meet monthly with scholars to help them succeed academically and prepare them to become leaders.
Accelerated Bachelor’s Program for Non-Nurses (ABPNN):
An accelerated program designed for candidates with bachelor’s or higher degrees in other fields who are interested in going into the nursing profession. This unique program incorporates and builds upon one’s pre-existing degree by providing generalist nursing studies. Upon completion of the program, students are awarded a B.S. and qualify to take the NCLEX-RN for registered nursing licensure.
Accelerated Master’s Program for Non-Nurses (AMPNN):
An accelerated program designed to admit non-nurse baccalaureate graduates to B.S. and M.S. programs in nursing. Through the combination of a one-year generalist component and a two-year advanced practice component, graduates earn a B.S. and an M.S. Graduates are eligible for the NCLEX-RN, nurse practitioner licensure and national credentialing.
ABPNN: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in a non-nursing major with a preferred cumulative 3.0 GPA; Successful completion of prerequisite coursework; Completed application with two letters of recommendation, a typewritten professional goal statement and a personal interview; TOEFL score of > 560 paper based or >88 i-based for international students;
AMPNN: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in a non-nursing major with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA; Successful completion of prerequisite coursework; Completed application with two letters of recommendation, a typewritten professional goal statement and a personal interview; Declaration of a specialty area upon application for admission; TOEFL score of > 560 paper based or >88 i-based for international students.
