Call-out text:
The scholars all joined the university’s Center for Multicultural Advancement and Student Success program, which gave them opportunities to participate in activities aimed at increasing networking skills and facilitating academic and career success.
An accelerated program designed especially for the individual holding a bachelor's degree in another field.
Long text (Legacy Book):
The school of nursing recently expanded the NCIN mentoring program so that all accelerated second bachelor’s degree program students and all students in the traditional undergraduate nursing program benefit from it, in addition to the NCIN scholars. Senior NCIN scholars have helped coordinate the mentoring program, planning activities and matching mentors and mentees. As a result, students report more beneficial and more frequent contact with their mentors, which many say has helped them navigate entry into the nursing program. Students also took advantage of the university’s Center for Multicultural Advancement and Student Success, which offers academic support, student development, and cultural enrichment.
Second Bachelor’s Degree Program:
A course of study designed for individuals with a non-nursing bachelor’s degree who are interested in pursuing professional nursing. This full-time, fast paced program requires significant dedication and commitment as it covers the same curriculum as the traditional program in a more condensed and rigorous format. Our program brings together people from all walks of life with educational and professional experiences from every field. Students with children, from diverse backgrounds, from ages 23 to 63 are integral members of our class. A one-to-one, 270 hour unique internship with an R.N. preceptor is offered senior year. Completion of the program prepares the graduate for entry level professional practice, to take the NCLEX licensure exam, and to gain the academic foundation for graduate study in nursing.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a non-nursing field; Submission of official transcripts; Overall GPA of 3.0 in six prerequisite courses, with at least four completed; Completed application with two letters of recommendation and a submitted application essay; TOEFL minimum score of 600 for international students.
