Long text (Legacy Book):
The mentoring program at the school of nursing has helped NCIN scholars improve their academic performance. The NCIN program enhances the academic support services available to all scholars through the school’s Student Success Center (SSC); this, in turn, has helped students improve their academic performance, especially in challenging courses such as pathopharmacology and adult health. NCIN scholars also serve as peer mentors through theSSC, which monitors student progress, identifies those who are at risk, and develops needs-based interventions. Professional nursing leaders from the community, including clinical nurse leaders (CNLs), visit classes and participate in orientation programs to in- form students about the state of CNL leadership and practice in the area.
Clinical Nurse Leader Program:
The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) master’s program is for students with a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing discipline. Upon program completion, graduates are awarded the M.S. degree and are eligible to take the registered nurse licensure examination, qualifying them for entry-level positions in hospitals and healthcare facilities. CNLs provide direct care in response to the complex needs of patients, families, and the communities in which they live. The CNL program was established in 2005 as part of an initiative promoted by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and academic health care leaders.
Two Years: 4 semesters and 1 summer (fall admission) 4 semesters and 2 summers (spring admission)
Baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in a non-nursing major with an overall 3.0 GPA; 3.0 science GPA; successful completion of prerequisite coursework; submission of all official transcripts; completed application with statement of goals and objectives, two letters of recommendation and a current resume; TOEFL score of 79 for internet-based examination for international students.
