Call-out text:
The NCIN cohort was diverse, and included scholars from various ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. That diversity helped enrich the classroom experiences for all students as scholars shared their experiences and perspectives on the health and social service systems.

Long text (Legacy Book):
All NCIN scholarship recipients participated in a two-day orientation program that addressed learning and study strategies, time management, and goal setting, among other topics. These scholars were engaged in leadership activities beginning at the time they enrolled. All became members of a local chapter of the Student Nurses Association, and all attended state and national conventions of student nurses. One scholar shared his experiences as a nursing student with incoming students at an orientation of the new class. He provided tips on how to stay focused and manage the program’s rigorous assignments and study demands.
