Call-out text:
All incoming nursing students, not just NC I N scholars, now benefit from NCIN’s Pre-Entry Immersion Program (PIP). Evaluation of the PIP indicated that students wanted more time to review math concepts and test-taking strategies, and officials were able to meet their needs.
An accelerated B.S.N. program designed especially for the individual holding a bachelor's degree in another field.
Long text (Legacy Book):
Weekly “lunch and learn” meeting grew out of the NCIN mentoring program at Norfolk State University’s nursing school. These meetings brought together scholars and their faculty mentors for informal, weekly lunch gatherings to discuss school-related issues. The meetings were limited to 10 students to ensure everyone could participate and get their questions addressed. Topics included multiple course subject matter, test taking, coping with stress, and organization. These sessions inspired other faculty members to volunteer to hold weekly sessions for other students in the program.
Second-Degree Baccalaureate Program:
A competitive program open to few and qualified students who hold a degree in a field other than nursing, and seek to pursue a career in nursing. Completion of this program entitles students to earn a B.S.N. degree as well as to take the NCLEX to receive licensure as a registered nurse.
Completion of an undergraduate or higher degree with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5; Grade of C or better in specified prerequisite courses; Admission to NSU; Successful completion of prerequisite coursework; Submission of official transcripts; Priority consideration will be given to students with excellent grades in math and the sciences.
