Long text (Legacy Book):
The NCIN scholarship program helped students from groups traditionally underrepresented in nursing achieve success. In doing so, the program improved prospects for their communities as well. The university has begun to invest in a transformational leadership program that pairs scholars with mentors and leaders from local agencies. Nursing school officials teamed with nurse faculty and leaders to encourage and prepare nurses to lead change in health and healthcare. Faculty mentors provide ongoing support and, at the same time, remind them to “own” their nursing career goals and capitalize on their learning experiences.
