The Accelerated Nursing Curriculum (ANC) Program at Creighton University started in 1975 for persons who hold a non nursing baccalaureate or higher degree and wish to become a professional nurse. Since the beginning, CU ANC graduates have consistently outperformed the national average on the NCLEX exam for nursing licensure. Graduates have made contributions to nursing practice in hospitals and public health agencies; have pursued advanced study in nursing to become nurse educators, nurse practitioners and leaders in the profession. A graduate of the Creighton nursing program is prepared to: integrate respect for the dignity, worth and spiritual uniqueness of persons into professional practice, synthesize knowledge from nursing and other disciplines in using evidence-based practices, think critically, communicate professionally and therapeutically, manage resources effectively, and integrate professional, legal and ethical standards into practice.
Academic acceptance is based on evidence of a baccalaureate degree in another discipline from an accredited college or university with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4 point scale. Transcripts are required from all colleges attended. All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to entry with a minimum grade of C to be eligible for transfer. Two letters of recommendation that address personal and academic attributes are required: one from a university instructor and one from an employer. Applicants must also complete Safety and Technical standards to validate their ability to meet the cognitive, psychomotor and affective requirements with or without reasonable accommodation. Application files will be reviewed only after two chemistry and either anatomy or anatomy and physiology courses are completed. For detailed descriptions of prerequisite requirements and further information, contact the School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs at 402-280-2067 or go to the Creighton website Creighton university.edu/ and click on future students and indicate nursing.
Approximately $47,000 for tuition, fees and books for the August, 2011-12.
