Description & Objectives
Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Program:
An accelerated program designed for someone who has their Bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field. This intensive, academic program recognizes each individual’s past experiences and academic achievements and builds upon these assets. It provides a mechanism for graduates with non-nursing degrees to change careers efficiently and effectively. The program involves intensive study at a rapid pace. Although the curriculum and format are different from Samuel Merritt’s traditional B.S.N. program, the goals, learning outcome objectives and foundational concepts are the same. This program is offered in Oakland, San Francisco, San Mateo and Sacramento. Admission takes place throughout the year; please refer to the Samuel Merritt University Web site for specific start times.
ABSN: Completion of baccalaureate degree and prerequisite coursework with a 3.0 GPA; science GPA of 3.0; Completed application with two letters of recommendation; Submission of official transcripts; Basic computer word processing skills; TEAS exam with scores that meet or exceed the national average scores; Satisfactory TOEFL scores (100 internet-based) for international students.
