Description & Objectives

Accelerated Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Program:
An accelerated second-degree nursing program for those individuals who have already received an undergraduate degree in another field and wish to pursue a nursing career.  The program's full-time curriculum includes 15 graduate level courses which may later be applied to a graduate degree.  Ultimately, this program leaves its students well-prepared to successfully complete the NCLEX and to become a registered nurse.

16 months
Admission Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Successful completion of all prerequisite courses (letter grade of C or higher; a grade of B- or higher is required in anatomy, physiology and microbiology)
  • Satisfactory performance on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) within five years. A combined score of at least 1,000 is preferred. The GRE will be waived for those with an undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or higher and/or those holding a master's or higher degree. 
  • Three recent letters of recommendation from non-family members
  • Strong, well-written personal statement
  • Completion of an interview, usually in-person, with faculty members. Phone or web-based interviews can be arranged, if necessary
  • Intermediate-level computing skills in Microsoft Word, e-mailing, web searching and browsing, etc.
